Yearbook, my sophomore album, was two years in the making. I mixed 12 songs I’d written in late 2019 with Kramer (who mixed, mastered, and coproduced this effort) in New York City in late February 2020—right before the beginning of the Covid crisis—but after several months in isolation I felt compelled to scrap most of them and start over. If there was any silver lining to the horrors of Covid, it’s that I finally had the time and space not only to dive deep into my music but also to fully comprehend my reasons for making it.

Nearly every one of the songs I wrote and recorded in this period ultimately ended up on the album, and all of them come from this deeper understanding of why I feel so compelled to express myself through music.
