This sophomore album was, like Here We Are, produced by Kramer (Galaxie 500, Low) and me. The album was both easier and harder to make than the first—for both of us. Easier because I was more adept at delivering a track in some semblance of finished form so that Kramer could mix it, but harder because, of course, of Covid. I mixed ten songs with Kramer in February of 2020 in New York City, and thought I was finished, but as Covid hit and I spent the late winter and spring mostly in isolation, I ended up writing and recording eight new songs. In the end, I jettisoned most of the early tracks and reconfigured the album in the summer and early fall of 2020. Not surprisingly, it ended up being a significantly darker record than I had originally planned on making.

This limited-edition CD was designed to resemble a high-school yearbook—the source of inspiration for its first track, “Ambitions.”
