The Present, my fourth full-length album, was recorded, mixed and produced by Bryce Goggin, the legendary indie producer known for his work with bands including Pavement, The Apples in Stereo, ANOHNI and the Johnsons, and Phish. I recorded the album with Goggin, drummer Chris Heinz, and bass player Bryan Percivall in the late summer of 2023 at Goggin’s Brooklyn studio, Trout Recording. Marking my first experience of cutting an album in a studio, the LP includes tracks ranging from the subtly political (“Florida Plates”) to the deeply personal (“The Boss” and “The Night We Talked” relate, respectively, to the deaths of my father and mother).
