In the fall of 1997 I left my role as the editor of Scenario—the screenwriting magazine I had cofounded with Martin Fox three years earlier—to try my own hand at screenwriting. In the next four years, I ended up writing a number of short and full-length screenplays. Two of these ended up being produced as short films—and another was published, as it turns out, in Scenario
