Release date: October 29, 2019. Length: 4 minutes 44 seconds.
“Here We Are” was the last track on my first album, which also takes its title from the song. Its topic was the “multiverse”—a concept in theoretical physics that posits the simultaneous existence of an infinite number of universes. Interestingly, this was one of about 20 rough tracks I sent to Kramer, who mixed and coproduced the LP, when I was looking for two more songs to fill out the album.
LYRICS:
We took the road along the clove
Made it home by ten
Here we are
Here we are
Here we are again
There you are
(Here we are)
Hear alarms, see the car
Door ajar, in flames
A speeding car, I veered too far
A flimsy guardrail gave
There you are
(Here we are)
Some say there are many worlds
And we live in a multiverse
Whose branches never merge
Dividing at every turn
So there we are, arm in arm
Darkness fades to white
And here we are, arm in arm
You turn out the light
