I first met Jeff Burton when we were undergraduates together at Texas Christian University. In the years since, Jeff has become a highly respected contemporary photographer. When I reached out to him about creating a video for “Time,” my cover of the 1981 hit by the Alan Parsons Project, Jeff suggested we work with video footage he shot in Los Angeles, where he lives, during an uncharacteristically rainy winter the year before. The resulting video is suffused with, in the words of critic Dave Hickey, the “tawdry beauty” of Jeff’s photographic work.
