“Good Start” was the lead single from my first album, Here We Are, released on October 29, 2019. It was also the first music video I ever made. Because the lyrics sprung directly from a saying of my grandfather (quoted to me by my father when I was a young boy), it seemed only fitting to comb through footage of my parents’ home movies to find source material for the video. The result was a mash-up of scenes from my parent’s courtship, marriage, and ensuing life together, combined with archival footage I found on the web—much of it on the wonderful Internet Archive—evoking love, aging, and loss.
