Published by The Esopus Foundation Ltd., Fall 2005. Format: Perfect-bound magazine, 9 by 11.5 inches, 118 pages.
Contents included artists’ projects by Richard Misrach (a stunning image in the form of a removable 35-by-17-inch poster), Mary Ellen Carroll, and Fernando Bryce; a new “Dear Sissy” monologue by Stephen Adly Guirgis, acclaimed lighting designer Jennifer Tipton’s manifesto arguing for lighting design to be considered an art form; film historian and director John Canemaker’s forensic examination of one still frame from Disney’s Fantasia; and “Marwencol on My Mind,” a piece debuting the remarkable photographs of Mark Hogancamp.
For the issue’s themed audio CD compilation, “Audio-Visuals,” musicians such as The Mountain Goats, Britta Phillips, and Jim White were invited to create new songs inspired by a particular work of visual art.
