“EATING WITH PUBLICSFEAR” EVENT

Private residence, New York, NY, January 15, 1994

For the second issue of publicsfear, artist Rirkrit Tiravanija created an artist’s project called Eating with Publicsfear. The project consisted of a removable card, positioned in a spread between photos of Bill Clinton (on the left) and George W. Bush (on the right) eating meals, which readers were asked to fill out and mail to publicsfear. These respondents were then invited to attend a meal cooked by the artist (one of the first iterations of Rirkrit's meal/performance, now considered to be one of the most important instances of relational art) at a loft in NoHo on January 15, 1994. As it turned out, this ended up being our final publicsfear event.
